Allaire Cold Fusion Server Support

Overview

Cold Fusion is a professional web development system. It makes it significantly easier to develop powerful web applications. Best of all, the installation process is relatively painless. The Cold Fusion Server is only available for Windows NT.

Operation

The Cold Fusion system uses ISAPI to interface with OmniHTTPd. The default installation of OmniHTTPd should contain all the necessary settings to operate Cold Fusion in its default installation directory. It is recommended that you retain these default settings.

Installation

Step 1: Obtain and Install the Cold Fusion Server

When prompted for the Web server type, select Other Server.

When prompted for a directory to place the examples and documentation, use C:\HTTPd\HTDOCS\CFusion. If you installed OmniHTTPd to a different directory, change the path appropriately.

Step 2: Reboot your system

If you are using the default settings for OmniHTTPd, Cold Fusion should be immediately operational after a system reboot. If you are having problems or did not use default settings, continue down the checklist.

Step 3: Start the Cold Fusion Server

The Cold Fusion server should already be running. You can check this in the Control Panel with the Services applet. Make sure all three components, Cold Fusion Application Server, Cold Fusion Executive and Cold Fusion RDS, are running. Start them if necessary.

Step 4: Enable external script processing

External script processing should be enabled by default. You can check this setting in the Advanced section of the Global Server Properties. Make sure that Enable External Script Support is checked.

Step 5: Check the MIME types

In the Global properties, check the MIME list that these associations are present:

Virtual Actual
wwwserver/isapi .cfm

Step 6: Check the entries in the External tab

Go into the External tab and check the following association. You will have to change it to the appropriate directory if you installed the Cold Fusion files in another directory:

Virtual Actual
.cfm C:\CFUSION\BIN\ISCF.DLL

Step 7: Test the Cold Fusion examples

Start OmniHTTPd and direct your browser to http://localhost/cfusion/CFDOCS/index.htm to test the installation.
